Great Video! I am a makeup artist who is in the process of staring my own line. It’s really exciting but can be nerve wrecking when doing it on your own from your kitchen lol.
Social networking has made it easier than ever to find and target potential clients while increasing the demand or desire for your product but bc it’s so easy I fear I’ll be better at creating a demand than I am supplying it. What’s the best way to avoid this when you’re on a budget?
where can i go to learn professionally to make creams, lotions, i have so many ideas but i don’t have the knowledge to make it. are there any great courses I can take?
Making vmcreams are probably the easiest to make. The emulsion is the most important think and its just the easiest to start out with in my opinion. If your looking for “natural” cosmetic formulating idk. There is no such thing and this is useful merely as a price galdglg gimmic. Unless your making small batches and only keeping for about 2 days. @Qadir Rani there are great courses, however I have learned using science, research, data performing and trial and error along with chemistry, however The institute of personal care has GREAT online and I’m person courses depending on where you live. Check them out on yt, fb, reddit info, and go to their website and just look around. You can learn the basics for free at making skincare fb page. @February Jewels You pretty much answered your own question. They have the money and resources to have someone else do the research for them and of course companies would love to slap their names on their products to gain revenue off their fame. But since you don’t have the luxuries as they do, you have to research and put the man hours in to reach the levels they’re at. By just a couple videos I’ve seen on YouTube, Kylie Cosmetics is Colour Pop and is or was being made in their Spatz Laboratories located in Oxnard, CA. It looks like James Charles and a few other YouTube influencers have had their cosmetic lines manufactured there as well. Again, these are well known people whose names carry weight and money so the lab may be limited to those they choose to work with. But hopefully this helps you and you look into laboratories that you can inquire about to help your dreams become a reality. Best wishes on your journey
GiGi Merced Just for example…Do you think Blac Chyna, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian sat in a kitchen mixing formulas and cooking up their own concoctions? I don’t think so…So how in the world did/are they able to put a product out their with their name on it? Please don’t say anything vague like they have money. I’m trying to understand what avenues did they take to spend the capital on? What company/group of people said they would help them? What is that called?
You can learn to formulate on your own. You dont need classes that cost a fortune. You will need to do alot of research and chemistry is involved. There are wholesale website and Reddits available to get you started on learning about equipment, preservatives, sanitary practices, ingredients and even marketing. All final formulas have to be tested by you and then sent off to a lab for extra testing of microbials, bacteria, and stability testing, however this comes after much experimenting and coming up with a final formula. My suggestion would be to start out formulating dupes. Learning ingredients and how they work and tweaking then for experiments. All your ingredients can be purchased at wholesale or chemist labs online online. Also there is a free chemistry course now being offered on swiftcraftmonkey.com with a $5 monthly subscription cancel anytime! The blog and other cosmetic I formation is free just create a free account. The REDDIT is DIY/skincare.. I have been formulating for a little over a year now and I started out just like this and now I am so pleased to be able to formulate a product, experiment and learn something new every day. There are a ton of reliable resources online that are free and that will guide you every step of the way. Chemist corner, humblebeeandme.com, makingcosmetics.com, lotioncrafters.com, etc a few atmre actually cosmetic ingredient wholesalers but they offer blods and resources and formulas for you to practice with and will teach you about all the different types of ingredients, batch calculators, spreadsheets. Etc…
I have been working on my brand and I can tell u. You definitely need a chemist. Even natural products and actually lots of them are dangerous for skin and human use. If you want to do a good job get a chemist.
